Vista Del Lago’s  junior varsity Soccer team was notorious for their win January 11th In a home game against Rubidoux High School.

Hard work was displayed in today’s game after our lady Ravens took home the win at a triumphant 3-1 score. Success did not come easy to these athletes, as they struggled to maintain speed and agility, but with their persistence and teamwork, their dreams of success became an ultimate reality.

No sports team is successful without working together to reach a common goal. Teamwork is essential to a good performance from any sports team, professional or not.

“The last few games there has been times where we need to take more shots, mark players, win the ball, or finish our plays.” junior, forward player, Aliah Duran confessed, “I think today with our teamwork and dedication, we showed a lot of this”

A regular weekly schedule for these Ravens include, showing up to practice three days a week from 3:30 to 5:30 and beginning drills. They begin with simple conditioning tactics to work up their bodies and build up stamina. The players cover shooting, passing, shielding, and goalkeeping to easily prepare them for future games.

“A typical day at practice you’ll always see the whole team working hard to improve on the little things we have to work on to be the best we can be” said Sophomore, right wing, Dayanara Bautista who had been playing soccer since age four

Not only is the sport seen as entertainment you see on tv or at a local park, but as an enlightening passion.

“What I like the most about the sport is not just winning but getting to express yourself in your own way. The sport itself is beautiful, It’s such a great game for anyone to play” said freshman, forward player, Amanda Espinoza.

Vista Del Lago’s junior varsity soccer girls showed their love for the sport through their good sportsmanship and perseverance. Their ability to consistently pick each other up aim for success was greatly portrayed, winning the support of all their viewers.
