Student services hosted it’s annual spring Youth Summit at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center April 20 to celebrate student success.

During the summit, students had the opportunity to explore different college and career programs in the community. Along with that two guest speakers, Christina Kim on runaway children and Bethany Hunter on power speaks louder. Show how words and action can affect your life.

“These events are crucial for students in helping them to realize the countless opportunities in the community.” Said Patty Rucker from Guidance Student Services.

On the other hand, students and staff in attendance shared their content with the event like Sophmore Cythia Kelleras saying,

“I don’t even have to worry about being an adult because I know that I have so many options in life, and the summit helped me see this more clearly.”

The events first started with foster youth back in 2014 by the former Assistant Director of Student Services, Beth Bartholomew. The Summits were used to inform students of and programs provided by the state and county to prepare foster youth for adulthood.

“The purpose of the Summit was to bring forgotten people together and bring love and opportunities in their lives.” Said Bartholomew.

Student services plans to continue hosting these events for years to come.
