Theater premiered its annual spring play “Little Shop of Horrors,” a melodrama musical based off a film by Roger Corman.

The story is based on creatures from outer space that
invaded the galaxy intent on world domination. Some of them took the form of plants. Seymour purchased one of the plants and brought it back to Mushnik’s Skid Row Florist shop where he worked. He named it Audrey II after his fellow assistant, Audrey. Audrey II starts to attract many visitors, but the major problem is that Audrey II’s food happens to be blood – fresh blood! As the plant starts to grow, so does its appetite and its demands. In exchange for fresh blood, Audrey II says he will grant Seymour’s heart’s desire. Orin, Audrey’s sadistic boyfriend, is the first to go. The list of victims and surprising events only continue from there.

Many students and teachers enjoyed the production like Art teacher, Ryan Gil de Montes saying, “I think that was actually the best one
they have done for a long time, great show.”

At the end of the production, the whole crew came out for one great big bow as the audience cheered with applause. One performer Andrew Murillo, who played Mr.Musenik said, “This is a great play and I’m so glad I got to be apart of this thang!” Another performer Sarah Rodrigez who played Audrey said, “It was a pretty amazing experience being able to perform with plan puppets!”

Currently, there is another performance tonight and March 17, at 7:00 pm in the school auditorium. Tickets are $7.00 for students with Ids and $10.OO for adults. These can be purchased at room B153 from Ms.Gysbers or at the door.
