Breathing heavily, grunting and the sound of weights hitting the ground. Freshmen aren’t allowed to take weight training and many of them think that’s unfair and want an equal privilege to this alternate class weight training.

Weight Room is closed to freshmen students, which means no weight lifting and no access to any of the equipment. Many freshmen would like to take this class and making it available only to sports might be making students wonder why they are not able to take it as well.

“I think it’s not right, we freshman want to get big too and only allowing freshman that are in sports to take this class is pretty dumb.” said Freshman Dennis Jones.

Sophomores, juniors, and seniors, the only people at school that can take this selection of physical fitness. Freshmen are not allowed, but freshmen in sports are allowed to use the weight room. Such as the Vista Del Lago Junior Varsity football team, they are allowed to have weight training although they are freshmen. If freshmen and not only students that are in sports were allowed, many opinions would be put in the limelight.

“Freshman are too small, they shouldn’t do it, and the football team, well it doesn’t matter they suck either way. They should have a weight requirement to be allowed to lift,” said Junior Richard Munoz.

Weight room isn’t allowed for the freshman but only to those freshmen that are in athletics. Certain freshmen would like to take this class and are not allowed, but why is that.

“There’s a curriculum, but it doesn’t affect that, it’s not my decision to let these students join the class and be allowed to lift.” said Coach Tucker.

Given that the class was available, many freshmen would join and it would add more people to these different kind of physical fitness. Weight training excludes freshmen students at this point and although athletics have a point to be in there, Freshmens voice would want to be heard to have weight training not only for sports but as a normal class as well.
